Our Patron: Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Gloucester
Always a supporter of the ship, the Duchess is pictured here visiting Ardent at sea in the English Channel in the summer of 1981. Also on the starboard bridge wing with Her Royal Highness is the ship's Captain, Commander Alan West and the Navigation Officer, Lieutenant Jim Donaldson.
As well as launching HMS Ardent and being the ships patron whilst in service, Her Royal Highness has maintained close links with the HMS Ardent Association and attended the Falklands 25 remembrance service in HMS Drake in May 2007 as well as previous reunions.
